Apostles: Fail to Comprehend the Nature and Mission of Jesus

Matthew 8:25–27 The disciples went and woke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” / “You of little faith,” Jesus replied, “why are you so afraid?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it was perfectly calm. / The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the sea obey Him!”
Matthew 15:23 But Jesus did not answer a word. So His disciples came and urged Him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.”
Matthew 16:8–12, 21, 22 Aware of their conversation, Jesus said, “You of little faith, why are you debating among yourselves about having no bread? / Do you still not understand? Do you not remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered? / Or the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered?
Matthew 19:25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?”
Mark 4:13 Then Jesus said to them, “Do you not understand this parable? Then how will you understand any of the parables?
Mark 6:51, 52 Then He climbed into the boat with them, and the wind died down. And the disciples were utterly astounded, / for they had not understood about the loaves, but their hearts had been hardened.

Mark 10:13, 14 Now people were bringing the little children to Jesus for Him to place His hands on them, and the disciples rebuked those who brought them. / But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and told them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them! For the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
Luke 9:44, 45 “Let these words sink into your ears: The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men.” / But they did not understand this statement. It was veiled from them so that they could not comprehend it, and they were afraid to ask Him about it.
Luke 18:34 But the disciples did not understand any of these things. The meaning was hidden from them, and they did not comprehend what He was saying.
Luke 24:19, 21 “What things?” He asked. “The events involving Jesus of Nazareth,” they answered. “This man was a prophet, powerful in speech and action before God and all the people. / But we were hoping He was the One who would redeem Israel. And besides all this, it is the third day since these things took place.
John 4:32, 33 But He told them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.” / So the disciples asked one another, “Could someone have brought Him food?”
John 10:6 Jesus spoke to them using this illustration, but they did not understand what He was telling them.
John 11:12, 13 His disciples replied, “Lord, if he is sleeping, he will get better.” / They thought that Jesus was talking about actual sleep, but He was speaking about the death of Lazarus.
John 12:16 At first His disciples did not understand these things, but after Jesus was glorified they remembered what had been done to Him, and they realized that these very things had also been written about Him.
John 13:6–8 He came to Simon Peter, who asked Him, “Lord, are You going to wash my feet?” / Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” / “Never shall You wash my feet!” Peter told Him. Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with Me.”
John 14:5–9, 22 “Lord,” said Thomas, “we do not know where You are going, so how can we know the way?” / Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. / If you had known Me, you would know My Father as well. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.”
John 16:6, 17, 18, 32 Instead, your hearts are filled with sorrow because I have told you these things. / Then some of His disciples asked one another, “Why is He telling us, ‘In a little while you will not see Me, and then after a little while you will see Me’ and ‘Because I am going to the Father’?” / They kept asking, “Why is He saying, ‘a little while’? We do not understand what He is saying.”
John 20:9 For they still did not understand from the Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.
John 21:12 “Come, have breakfast,” Jesus said to them. None of the disciples dared to ask Him, “Who are You?” They knew it was the Lord.
Acts 1:6 So when they came together, they asked Him, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”
